What’s New in Pegasus Opera 3?

Pegasus Opera 3 has a new user interface, it is Windows 7 compliant (so is Opera II) and has a new ribbon bar navigation panel, some new applications, added functionality and enhancements:

  • Open Period Accounting facility gives users the option to post Nominal Ledger transactions to any period of the last, current and next 3 financial years offering more flexibility.
  •  

  • VAT 100 Online Filing (UK only) is now catered for within the Online Filing Manager. VAT Return submissions to HMRC can be sent direct from Opera 3.
  •  

  • New Scheduler application has been developed using the .NET framework which allows users to run some Opera 3 tasks at a convenient time for minimum disruption to the business. Run Financial Period Ends, Database Back up, Tidy System Files, Update Data Structures and Rebuild Periods/History.
  •  

  • Improved user interface to help users navigate around Opera 3 quickly and easily. The attractive ribbon bar includes custom designed icons to identify application functions.
  •  

  • Reporting improvements to allow users to run multiple reports at the same time for easy comparison of information. Many reports within Opera 3 can be output to MS Excel for further data manipulation.
  •  

  • Restructured Help facility enables users to easily find the information they need to use their Opera 3 solution. The Help can be accessed from all forms in the application with a new icon.
  •  

  • Opera 3 Info Centre is a new website which launches when an Opera 3 user logs in. The website is designed as a resource centre for Opera 3 users and contains valuable information such as What’s New, Coming Soon, Special Offers, Downloads and more.
  •  

  • New GDI Chart Controls have been implemented and are available in all Views allowing for an impressive display of data. More than one chart can be run at the same time to allow for better comparisons.
  •  

  • Mouse Wheel Navigation provides a quicker way for users to locate the required record and is available on multi record maintenance forms.
  •  

  • Security Management uplift provides greater security with the option to set an expiry date in which the user must change their password.
  •  

  • Stocktake: Product information is extracted from Opera 3 Stock Control and allocated to worksheets for the relevant personnel to perform manual counts. On completion, management can run a cross-check, resolve discrepancies, make corrections and post adjustments back into Opera 3 to automatically update stock levels.
  •  

  • Notification Services: Messages can be distributed to users or groups of users, directly through the Opera 3 interface. For example, when tasks that require exclusive access to the system need to be performed, messages can be sent asking users to log out. If users fail to do so, an automatic shutdown can be enforced; in addition, a lockout period can be set to restrict users from logging back in for a set period of time.

  • Document Management Desktop: This new application enables employees who are not users of Opera 3 to access documents stored within Document Management. Users can also capture and index electronic documents into the Document Management database. Furthermore, Document Management includes one free Document Management Desktop user.
  •  

  • Improve Rectify Journal: in the Nominal Ledger, Foreign Currency Nominal Journals can now be re-posted at a different exchange rate. In addition, Nominal Journals can be re-posted using the latest Allocation Percentages for Distribution Accounts.
  •  

  • New Bankline Adhoc Payments Option: a new Bankline Adhoc Bulk BACS file format is available for selection in Purchase Ledger, Cashbook and Payroll. Customers will be able to upload payments which would be processed as single debit/multi credit payments from one bank account to multiple beneficiaries, without having to set up a template in Bankline for each payee in Opera 3.

  • Importer: to allow third party applications to utilise the Open Period Accounting (OPA) functionality, the Opera 3 Importer has been enhanced to offer the same OPA Processing capability that is provided for transaction posting performed directly within Opera 3.
  •  

CRM Uplift: With over 60 new enhancements, this release truly expands the functionality and flexibility of the CRM applications. Enhancements include:

  • A New Summary Scheduler. This offers users an alternative way to schedule or reschedule calls, by presenting a summary view of all resources for the chosen month. Calls can be scheduled in bulk, rather than from the individual calls.
  •  

  • A New Batch Generation of Planned Maintenance calls. This enables users to create in bulk any planned maintenance calls that may be due for Equipment Items. Users will be able to generate all calls due in one month, two months or future months, without having to create each call individually.

Please note, Opera 3 (1.20) has been tested on Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.
